Hello flower friends,
My first blog post! I have been putting off doing a blog style gallery because writing isn’t my favourite pastime. I honestly think I have a bit of PTSD from all the academic papers. But here we are, with a new website and a brand new blog style gallery, so I am going to dive right in! It felt fitting to write my first blog post on my first wedding!
September 2020
This wedding was actually Marleen’s last wedding as the owner of Daisy & Bird Floral Design. Let me side track for a moment. For those of you who don’t know the history of Daisy & Bird, it was originally owned by the most beautiful woman Marleen Lawrence. My mom and I met Marleen through a mutual friend during the our first year of planning the flower farm. At this point I had honestly never considered the possibility of working in wedding floral design, let alone owning my own business. I have always said the stars aligned; Marleen was looking to step away from her business to focus on her growing family, and my mom and I were excited to start our new journey with cut flowers and flower design. From there the rest is history!
It was amazing to support Marleen in bringing this wedding to life. Lauren was the sweetest bride I was so lucky I got to meet her when she popped by the venue before the ceremony! Here are some of the things she had to say about her wedding florals:
“Marleen! Thank you soooo much for the beautiful flower arrangements! They were amazing and perfect! I could not believe just how wonderful they all looked and everyone was constantly asking me about them and complementing them! … Once again, thank you sooo much. The flowers and greenery were just wonderful and really brought everything together!”
During this wedding Marleen made arrangements for a few professional photos to be taken for the transition of Daisy & Bird, and I was also able to meet another wonderful human Jordan from Jordan Dumba Photography. It was the start of a beautiful relationship that has continued to this day.
One of the great things about starting this gallery style blog is reflecting back over the years. 2020 Caitlin honestly could never have imagined where Daisy & Bird is today. If you have read this far thanks for sticking around! I hope that this blog will be a place to showcase my work, provide industry resources, as well as updates and information on our flower farm.
